Gerry Donnelly began her career in the business in 1961. She accepted an after-school position when she was a senior student at St. Hubert’s High School in Northeast Philadelphia and learned the business from the ground floor up! Gerry is proud of her success story: she started as a Gal Friday, became a partner in the business, and today is the owner of the company.

Wendy Ivins, Office Manager

Wendy became part of the Barnell office team in 2007. Her initial job was covering the order desk. With her experience, education and grasp of computer science, Wendy took on the formidable task of bringing Barnell’s technology programs and systems into the 21st century. Because of her great people and organizational skills, her ability to manage employees, customers and vendors, Wendy quickly advanced to the position of Office Manager.

Andrea Ivins, Administrative Assistant

Andrea joined the company in 2011. Her transition into the Barnell “family” was easy, as she is Wendy’s sister. Andrea has earned the title “Queen of the Order Desk”. Her excellent organizational and customer service skills have made her an invaluable member of our team. When you call our office, you will most likely be greeted by Andrea’s warm and friendly “hello” … and know that you are in good hands.

Michael Merenda, Senior Service Technician

Michael has been with Barnell since 1979. Michael has extraordinary skills. He has a unique ability to diagnose almost any kind of mechanical problem that exists in kitchen dishwashing or on-premise laundry systems. When Michael arrives to troubleshoot a problem, there is always a sense of “all is well in the world”. Over the years, Michael has developed almost a cult following because he is so talented, skilled and well-liked by our customers. Michael grooms our technicians in all aspects of our service commitment to our customers. His creative initiative helps keep us focused on innovative trends in our industry.

Donald Miller, Service Technician

Donald came to work with Barnell in 1998, initially as a chemical processor in our manufacturing facility. A dedicated and quick learner, his responsibilities eventually included all areas of powder and liquid manufacturing, in addition to plant maintenance and equipment upkeep. Donald’s highly developed plumbing and electrical skills, combined with his trouble-shooting talent and intuitive knack for mechanical problem-solving led him to accept an opening on our Service staff. He has fined-tuned his skills in this field; Donald is great at thinking on his feet and the diagnosis and repair of all types of problems. He is our “gentle giant” in the field.

Shawn Rompolski, Service Technician

Shawn is the newest addition to the Barnell family, bringing to us his considerable plumbing and electrical skills. He, too, is a quick learner who has adapted nicely to our family environment and the unique nature of our service business. He is friendly, knowledgeable, a straight-arrow who troubleshoots field problems quickly and efficiently. We are happy for the opportunity to have Shawn as part of our team and to grow our business with him.

Tom Hanratty, Sales

Tom joined the Barnell sales staff after he retired from his role as country club manager. Tom’s first-hand knowledge of the country club market has helped propel our own growth in this very competitive field of golf club management. His experience in country club kitchen and laundry management places him in a unique position, because he has experience from “both sides of the desk”. Tom Hanratty inherently knows what it takes to get the best results for kitchen and laundry management, while capably managing a budget. Tom is a fine gentleman; his jauntily debonair style and crackling sense of humor always makes it pleasant to be around him.

Joe Skuba, Sales

Joe Skuba is Barnell’s longest-serving employee, surpassed only by Gerry Donnelly. Needless to say, Joe has extensive knowledge of our products, equipment and markets. Nothing is ever too much trouble for Joe. He has been known to remove his jacket and roll up his shirt sleeves to make a simple repair in the field for a customer. He is precise and deliberate in the way he treats his customers — always putting their needs first. Joe Skuba is a nice young man who will always go above and beyond to satisfy customers’ needs and keep them happy! We are blessed to have such a great individual on our team.

Bob Chazin, Sales

Bob Chazin has rejoined the Barnell sales staff after retiring from the retail automotive industry. Bob brings along years of sales experience and customer service expertise that fits like a glove into our own market. The temporary tutelage of Joe Skuba and Tom Hanratty has served to refresh and to reintroduce Bob into the heart of our markets . Bob got right back into the swing of things without missing a beat. We are happy to have Bob on the Barnell team once again. He has a positive and assertive personality and always looks for ways to best serve our customers’ needs.
